Andrew Poole lives in Perth Western Australia. After leaving school he qualified as a sound and lighting engineer for theatre film and television at Perth Technical College. From there he worked with various companies and started his own recoding business. He then studied networking, electronic engineering and then found and interest in home cinema. This led to him travelling the world and learning from industry greats like Floyd Toole, John Dahl, Gerry Lemay and others. He studied and qualified with THX, HAA, ISF, PVA and went on to lecture at CEDIA on room design and calibration. He now travels the world consulting, designing and most of all calibrating cinemas which he has been now doing for over 20 years. Video Calibration
As Australia’s longest serving video calibrator (and the first person to ever use Calman commercially) Andrew has extensive experience with video calibration. While Andrew can calibrate all projectors and monitors from private TV to studio monitors and projectors Andrew specialises in Barco and MadVR and is familiar with the various platforms and requirements.
His equipment includes high end Murideo Signal generators, A Jeti 1511 Hi Res spectroradiometer and a Klein K10a as well as both Calman and Colourspace software.
Audio Calibration
Equipped with a range of tools including multiplexed microphone analysis run within the audio tools suite and a choice of signal generators Andrew can quickly and easily assess the issues within a room and work on the solutions to optimise results. Gerry Lemay of the HAA was the first person to fire Andrew’s interest in Home Theatre audio calibration and from there his study and research has not stopped. His goal is always to extract the best quality audio from within a room be it 2 channel or multichannel.
